After my epic trip to Death Valley and visiting friends in Nevada, I kept driving and made it to the Grand Canyon. Now, I might be a little jaded because I have seen some pretty impressive views in my life from various mountain tops - but on my first time seeing the Grand Canyon, I was not as impressed as I thought I would be. Now don't get me wrong, it's impressive, it just wasn't the impact I thought it have have on me. I went there expecting to see a big open space, much like a mountain top view, and that's what I saw. I decided to hike a bit into the canyon on the Bright Angel Trail and ended up going just past the 3 Mile Resthouse and back. It was icy near the top so I was glad to have some traction on my feet.

Looking out towards Plateau Point. I initially thought I would hike there and back, but I didn't think I would be able to make it out before dark.
