On my trip to England to do the Coast to Coast trip, I traveled to Edinburgh before the hike to see a small piece of Scotland. I spent two nights here and had one full day to see the city. I chose a destination and just winged it from there. I started by walking to Arthurs Seat in Holyrood Park. Made a stop to tour the Palace of Holyroodhouse which is still used by the royal family from time to time. Walked the length of the Royal Mile. Saw Edinburgh Castle from the outside and visited Calton Hill and saw the National Monument of Scotland. I can't say I learned much as I was really just trying to absorb the scenery. Edinburgh Scotland is a cool city and you should visit if you ever have the opportunity. The people were super friendly.
First time in the UK, or Europe for that matter
Imagine my confusion when I got in the taxi. I was thinking it would be like a car inside. It was huge like a van. Just a little culture shock. I'm weird, I know, LOL.
Another culture shock moment was to see my first ever Spongbob Squarepants toilet in my hotel room, LOL.
I picked a route this day to see the city and this tunnel was part of the path. I actually walk by that arch on the top later in the day.
My walk on my first full day in Scotland led me to Arthur's Seat at the top of Holyrood Park.

This was the last image I got inside the palace. Apparently no photos are allowed but I was unaware. Oops.
Holyrood Abbey attached to the side of the palace. Looks like theve been doing some restoritive work to the old Abbey ruins.

After the palace tour, I went and checked out another tourist trap Edinburgh is known for, The Royal Mile.

At the top of the climb up the Royal Mile is Edinburgh Castle. I couldn't go in as it was sold out. Not sure it would have been much better than Holyrood but maybe? At least I saw it from the outside, LOL
Looking down the Royal Mile. Look at all those people.
Not sure about this one to be honest.
After my fun on the Royal Mile, I decided to see what was up on this hill. This is called the Nelson Monument, and the hill is called Calton Hill.
