Umtanum Falls and Black Canyon

This was an event I sponsored last October for my hiking club - the Peninsula Wilderness Club.  A lot of the events my club puts on are really close to home, which usually means the Olympic Mountains so I was excited to find out that there was 11 of us on this particular outing to Eastern Washington. I had been to both areas a few years ago so it was fun to be able to share them with my club friends. I think I might do something similar with the club next year, but this time it will probably be at the other end of Umtanum Creek where it flows into the Yakima River.

The green and yellow patch near the center of the picture is Black Canyon. We hiked from there and were returning via a loop that followed along the ridge for a ways.
