Granite Mountain

This was a hike that was in the works for months. Ron's son Justin had invited me earlier in the year and I was eager to check it out. Granite Mountain is one of several hikes in the I-90 corridor near Snoqualmie Pass. I'll spare you the turn by turn trip details as I'm sure WTA has that covered better than I am willing to dedicate my time to. Somehow I only managed to get pictures of Ron and myself on this one. I really wish I had done a group shot. Be sure to check out the timelapse I took of the summit near the bottom of this post.

Hike details
Nice broad path at the beginning, wide enough to drive a car up.
It was good to get out with Ron again
Looking up at the steep terrain
A glimpse of the lookout. Still a ways to go.
Approaching the Boulder field near the top
There was still quite a bit of snow on this north facing aspect. On the return we would make our way down the ridge line.
Last steps to the summit. It was already crowded. That's what happens when you hike these popular with Seattle hikers I-90 hikes. Then you get to deal with krusty old hikers that inquire how you enjoyed hiking up through the snow in your trail runners. "Fine. Feet a little wet but did just fine, thank you for asking. How about minding your own business, LOL"

My lunch time companion
Ron made it. We headed down shortly after this shot.
Glacier Peak (I think) in the distance
Cool looking summit to the north
Ron making his way down. We stuck to the ridge line coming down which was snow free but a lot more work. I sat right here for about a half hour doing a timelapse which I've posted below.
Mt Stuart in the distance? I'm not that good with naming some of these Cascade peaks.
Looking down the rocky ridge line. The snow on the left is what I came up.
If I am reading my map correctly, Annette Lake should be right up that drainage. Silver Peak on the left and Humpback Mountain on the right. Mt Rainier (kind of washed out in the harsh sunlight) off in the distance.
