January of 2008. This was a big month for me. I was transitioning between jobs and my last traveling duty for my old job was at Twentynine Palms in California for EDS as a subcontractor. I was also transitioning away from being a smoker for almost 20 years, yeah I said 20 years. I decided that if I was giving something up, that dammit, I was going to get back something that I had lost a while back, hiking. The pictures here are important to me because they represent a big change in my life, a change for the better.
A lot of the images were taken from the car as I drove through Joshua Tree. Some were from Hidden Valley and some from the Cholla Cactus Garden. A few images were taken at Keyes View and Cottonwood Spring. The longest hike I did there was to the FortyNine Palms Oasis. It was a total of 3 miles round trip, but it was a great beginning to my new found interest in the outdoors.
