Pipiwai Trail and Waimoku Falls – Maui

November 12 2017

While vacationing in Maui, we took a road trip out to see this huge Banyan tree and the Waimoku waterfall on the Pipiwai trail.

Scenic pullout on the start of the trip
South side of the island. Very pretty here and almost zero traffic.

We stopped to check out this pretty church out in the middle of nowhere.

Map of our road trip. A lot of folks talk of the road to Hana which is along the northern part of the larger part of the island. We approached Hana the back way via the southern section, which in my opinion was nicer than the actual tourist route. The road was dirt for a good portion of the way however. We went counter-clockwise. The goal for us for this day was not Hana but the Pipiwai trail which was a bit further away than we had planned. Google Maps brought us in via the southern route. Since we were so close to Hana, we decided to just do the whole loop. It was a full day.
