Dusty Lake Backpack

April 30th, 2016

Another fun filled weekend with the Peninsula Wilderness Club. Last year it was at Ancient Lake. This year we tried the much less crowded Dusty Lake which is right next to Ancient Lakes, just one ridge over. It's slightly further to get to and very overlooked. We actually enjoyed camping over here more than at Ancient. There was just a lot less people over here.

At our campsite, there was a piece of electrical conduit. I took it and tied a shirt to it and propped it up. It flew proudly in the stiff breeze that day and helped Megan and Julia find us.
Hayden was brave and went for a swim. A very short swim!

Paul and I took a short hike to the other end of the lake. We saw a baby rattlesnake in the grass here.
I hate graffiti, but you have to admit this was nicely done.

Nice trip report, Jay! The lake does look nice – and the lack of people is a definite plus!

Thanks Steve. It was pretty nice. I think the consensus was that everyone enjoyed Dusty more than Ancient. I’m sure we’ll have more trips here in the future.
